G-Flute Challenges Litho-Labels
The "G-Flute" Way: Sheboygan Paper Box uses offset lithography to print directly onto the GrafXflüt sheets. GrafXflüt provides a precise print-to-die cut registration (for standard folding carton tolerances).

Sheboygan believes it gets better graphics performance --higher line screen and crisp imaging-- from offset lithography onto GrafXflüt versus flexography in direct print applications. GrafXflüt is not as susceptible to delamination or cracking on scores as litho-label laminated corrugated sheets. Printing directly onto GrafXflüt offers a significant time savings because it eliminates laminating the litho-labels.

"GrafXflüt gives us the opportunity to direct print onto a substrate
with the enhanced graphics characteristics and structural integrity
we need to meet our customers' standards."
-- Drew Garczynski, CPP, Sheboygan Paper Box Company

The Old Way: The USFilter/Culligan filter package program was previously constructed from a full litho-label laminated to E-Flute. The litho-label process tends to take longer than direct printing because it involves an additional step to glue and laminate the label to a substrate. The old converting process underwent registration and print-to-cut register problems that lead Sheboygan to pursue GrafXflüt.
